Stanley: Day and Night

Stanley is located in the south of HK, is blessed with the good location facing South China Sea, a beach is here. I like to come here when I need to refresh myself, sometimes I spend the whole afternoon to read a book under the gentle sea breeze and the sound of sea weave. People also love to have a beer at the bars alongside the sea coast. I am dreaming of buying a house here, however, it costs a hundred million HK dollar,totally insane!

Getting Lost in New Jersey

When you are getting lost in an unfamiliar place, what do you do? I have encountered such experience while on the way to New Jersey. It was a rainy day in April this year. I learnt that there is a shopping outlet, not so far from New York.

Then, I took a bus at Port Admiralty Station, the ride was supposed to be half an hour. But, after an hour of seeing lots of beautiful houses out of the window, I started to suspect if something went wrong. I asked the bus driver if I would be there soon. He replied politely, " You take a wrong bus! "

The first feeling came to me was very weird..I didn't feel nervous, but a little bit excited, as I could see more than expected if I didn't take the right one...as I was not that eager to go shopping actually, only wanted to know how New Jersey was. I asked the driver if I could go back to NY. He said, " no...you take off first, I will pick you up in 30 mins.

I waited at the bus station in the second photo, and took some photos in order to kill time. The nice driver then picked me up as promise, and showed me a place ( the last photo ) to take the local bus to the outlet I originally planned to go. After I took off the bus and expressed my sincere thanks to the bus driver and a passenger, I saw other side of NJ, quite a special place I can say.

The smart girl like me, surely can get to there ultimately.

The oldest and cheapest transportation in HK

This ferry services cross the harbour between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. ( Basically, HK comprises in 3 parts..HK Island ( like staten island ), Kowloon ( like lower manhattan ) and New Territorries ( like upper manhattan ). For each ride, only cost HKD 2 ( USD 0.3 ). It's a very good way to see the great scenery between both side.
Tram(we sometimes called it " Ding Ding ", as it has that sound when crossing roads.) - it only runs around HK Island. It only costs HKD 2.

Central Park, New York

Is it usual to take little kids to central park during school days?
They are all adorable, and I asked the permission to take photos of them.
I miss Central Park, it is sure to be another scenery over there right now.

Gingerbreadman

They were Gingerbreadman I made last Sunday, I hope this practice will be continued in every Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas, what are you planning to do? Some of my friend suggests going to have hotpot at night in Christmas eve. What I feel is a little bit weird! For me, Christmas is not like that.
In Chinese society, we rarely celebrate this festival with our family, as it's not big day to us, but many of us plan to spend time with friends. Sometimes, I think is it only an excuse for us to having fun instead of thinking of the acutual meaning of Christmas. Therefore, I start to reject this kind of " celebration " with my friends.
This year, I only want to listen carols in a church,maybe..that's what this festival supposed to be..I think...

Back to HK again!

Again..my Soho

In continuing my introduction of Soho, let me show you On Lan Street this time. This is a very small and short street, surrounded by few old stone buildings built in early 1900s, they are considered to be very unique in HK, as most of them had been demolished in early 70s. I found this little place by chance once.

I think of- MMM, their original aim is to let customers to find their shops randomly without showing their address in any public media. And, the left one is the first MMM shop in HK. They did good job here, even it has lots of campaigns in promoting it started from the beginning. Anyway, it's not a popular area through, which is understandable. When you come here, you will know the reason. By the way, will Mr. Margiela retire soon?

P.S this blog enables me to have a completely new perspective to look at the place I live for long. Nice! will continue discovering more.

The place I like- Soho, Central, HK

Had dinner with some buddies tonight in Soho. From the above photo, it doesn't seems like taking in HK, right? Everytime, when i pass by, I feel like being in western countries,the atmosphere is very relaxing. In this area, you can find some great restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques, furniture shops, antique shops, art galleries...like Chelsea in New York...or Saint Germain De Pris in Paris.This photo only shows a little part of it.Here is definitely one of my favourite place in HK.

Paris, Je t'aime

I am thinking of Paris today after reading a book about life in Paris written by an HK author. What she experienced is absolutely what I am dreaming to have. I feel like being in Paris while I was reading the book. I can finish it by tomorrow, will tell you something interesting. Above are the pictures taken in Paris in 2007. I miss the days over there.

I really miss New York!

New York is my favourite place recently. Been to there 4 times already. But, never find anything boring in this fabulous city. During my visits, I only felt excited when I wake up everyday, and hope for exciting things happen, I always encountered some interesting people over there, how interesting it is!

What in my mind now is when I saw the dark sky filled with stars, and I was sitting on one of my friend's rooftop in Brooklyn. By the way, I quite like the neighbourhood in Brooklyn, it's actually nicer than what I imagine, there are a lot of great cafes, restaurants, boutiques, bars, small parks.I has been dreaming of living in such chic and quiet area.

When can I come back, New York? I want to stay a little bit longer.

Christmas is coming!

I particularly like the exterior Christmas display of Peninsular Hotel in every Christmas. You see, all the lovely and lively Christmas characters are like hanging in the sky. Normally, there are colourful festive displays out of the buildings in HK ( maybe I can show you some later ). But, no doubt that this one is the best I ever seen.

Chinese Cafe in HK

Everyone knows there are tons of cafes in Paris..actually, HK has some very old-fashioned cafe in chinese way. They located in some old district, like this one in Yau Ma Tei ( near the famous Temple Street in HK ) I can't help going inside and have fried french toast and hot chocolate when i passed by ( on the way to a small cinema with some rare movies on show ).As this cafe has two -storey, most likely, I choose a seat near the window in the 2nd floor as I can hear some very old chinese music from the stores selling CD in the 60s or 70s on the street. And, I can see people playing chinese chess out of the window. The whole scenery is very old HK, I love it, HK should preserve sth like that.

Delight a Day.

Two delightful things happened these 2 days, made the days full of happiness.

One of my american colleagues resume work from maternity leave.When I noticed that I'd mailed her to welcome her back. I met her once in May, at that time, I realised she's such a young and beautiful women who was pregnant, and I wondered if she's carrying her first baby. But, it's not the case. She's already have 2 kids named Romeo, aged 5, on the left, and Izabella, aged 3 in coming Jan, in the middle. And the little boy is Mateo, 5 months. Yesterday, i couldn't help opening this photo repeatedly during office hour, 3 little happy faces did cheer me up all day.

Today is thanksgiving day. In the early morning, I received a gift from our buyer wraped with a nice ribbon. I opened it later in the afternoon, and found that it's my favourite hand-made cookies from Jenny's Bakery. It's made in HK. I love it very much!!! This is absolutely great!

I realised that, indeed, there' re lots of nice and wonderful people around, sometimes they take an active role to take care you, and sometimes they are in a passive role, to be taken care of. The world will become more beautiful and harmonious if human beings both taking active and passive roles in treating others well.

Where I am?

I am in HK, but my mind always fly to somewhere else very often.
This is me, I am always dreaming.
