Vivienne Westwood - A life in Fashion - in HK

The exhibition of " A life in Fashion " featuring Vivienne Westwood is shown in HK lately.

I still can remember that Westwood gave an flash solid image in most youngster mind of her accessories and handbags in a sudden moment, this was the year 2002. I could find nearly every single girl possessed some items from ear rings to bags of Westwood. At that moment, not many of us knew that she has her own collections for 20 years already.

After visiting this show, I came to realise that the success of Westwood is not all by sudden, she already in the fashion industry for almost 28 years. She really gets her own styles, except I thought she has some shadow of Chanel in her dresses in some collections.

In her younger age , I can see her design was largely affected by her second husband - a rock and roll band singer, therefore contributed to something with inclination to rebellious . Her later design was greatly influenced by art and drawings from Victor and Albert Museum in London, they became more elegance, like the corsets and evening dresses.

In the entrance of the exhibition, a quote is shown on the wall.
" I have a kind of in-built clock which always reacts against anything orthodox. " Vivienne Westwood.

Stopped by an Art Gallery ..in coincidence

For the continuous one-week holidays, I decided to take a walk outside and tried to find something interesting ( slept a lot these days )

First, I went around a flower market, and buy some fresh flowers, this time, the above pink flowers were my choice. Oh..they remind me of the agnes b's flower bouquets is always my favourite.

Then, I stopped by an art gallery, which is mainly showing photography. The two photos on the wall which capturing colour- circles caught my attention, they are very familiar to one of Daniel's work. And, I was wondering how these photos could be taken. ( I know Daniel's one was all by accident :) ) Unfortunately, this gallery was close yesterday, I will be definitely check it out again next time.

Flourish Flowers, Flourish Year..

In our Chinese traditions, we buy flowers to decorate our home during Chinese New Year to hope the coming year is going to be flourish like the flourish flowers.
This year is gonna to be not easy in such current economic situation. But, everyone should think positive to tackle the problem we are facing now. I am sure I am one of the victim already when receipt the bad news before holidays. Anyway, it's gonna be fine.:)
It's hilarious that a representative got a very bad sign in a temple when hoping to predict how HK is gonna to be in coming year . ( it's like a draw to get something from a holder containing over 50 signs, there're good/ average/ bad inside with particular explanations about the signs )
You know, this is our tradition to find one to do that every year. But, we always got average/ good signs, but not a bad one. And, that representative said , the sign is very realistic and we have to try our best to overcome. hahaha...thank you!

Lotus without water lillies, Monet

I wondered around a university campus last week.The lotus leaves reminded me of one of my favourite painters- Claude Monet, who loved to draw water lilies around his house in Giverny, France.
Today is the first day of Ox Year, I wish all of you have a happy Ox Year!!!!

The growth of a tree, NY

I received an email attaching below photo which capture a snowy tree from one of a New York stranger in Chelsea , and we keep in touch, then I can say we are friend now. :)

The story began when I was in New York for travelling last April. I am interested in snapping a tree, no matter it's with leaves or without. I remembered that I randomly selected Chelsea as one of my wondering place one day, and excited to see lots of beautiful trees around this area. Later, I realised that Chelsea is famous for its wonderful gardening.

When I was snapping a tree, a house and tree's owner sat next to main door, and asked what I was doing. I just explained that the tree caught my attention, and I couldn't help taking some photos of it. The owner was so kind to show me the photo of the tree in 100 years ago, when it was still a very young and thin tree. Now, it keeps fourishing. The owner even let me in the big and cozy house, and we even had some great conversation in the dining room. How nice it was! Such an interesting encounter!

I have been thinking a lot these 2 days- about my french lesson ( which i seriously lag behind as I stopped for 3 months ), my future, my career, my goal...and so on. Sometimes, I do find myself thinking too much.

Will get back to a very normal working day tomorrow, and when will this normal life comes to an end and turn to be an amazing one?Who knows?

Visited a little exhibition about Scotland at Agnes B Art Gallery in HK.
And, realise that Scotland is quite an interesting place with its breathtaking scenery.

Anyway, Europe is always my first choice.

Bookstores, Paris

The first bookstore is mainly selling books about fashion -Assouline.
The second is Taschen store, which is really great, I don't have to explain here.
They are all located in Saint Germain de pres in Paris.

Speaking of birthday, a Mcdonald party was hold last week for my friend's birthday. Here in Hong Kong, I hereby would like to dedicate this full-of -smiles photo to our birthday guy- Dennis:)

I don't know if anyone of you have once attended a birthday party in Mcdonald, it's quite popular for some parents to organise such activity for their kids ( under 10 ) birthday. Celebrating a birthday in Mcdonald is like a wish for most kids in HK. Last week, we had a big kid's bday to remedy his missing of such party when he's still a " real kid "!! And, the Mcdonald staffs just treated us as kids, and played serveal games with us. hahaha..

On Friday night...dined out with friends

On a relaxing Friday night after one-week work, what activity is better than dining with friends. This time, we decided to go to a Chinese restaurant serving very local dish. Do you wanna try? haha..i miss the orange dish very much..but if I tell what is it. It would be probably scare you off. hahaha..
After our dinner, we sat somewhere in a shopping mall. Yes, there are lots of 6-7 storeys shopping malls in HK. You can buy what you want in a very concentrated area.

Rita/ Daniel- you all have good observation!
The building here is actually a Christian bookstore in Hong Kong and it connects with a church- so there are cross on the window frame. You can see following is a part of the church. The design theme was based on Noah, it built in 1950s.
Daniel- it's so good that you can even recognize the bus which is resemble to the London one. You know, when I was in London, it gave me a sense of belongings, as everything seems like HK, this is the influence of a british colony.

Piano

I really worried about my piano teacher. She's in a hospital now because she will have an eye operation in coming Thursday.
We just had a class yesterday, and I received her call tonight about the problem of her eyes. She hardly open her eyes now. What I can do now is pray for her. I can't imagine the world gonna be, if I can't read the scores and play my favourite pieces.
All of a sudden, I feel that we can't always take something for granted. Something will lost one day...which is completely unavoidable.
Cherish what we have now.

Central, HK

Central is in HK Island, which is a central business district. Like Fifth Ave in NY, with lots of high-end fashion boutiques and department stores.

The building at the front is Legislative Council, it preserves the English architecture style as HK was a british colony.
In the back, China Bank Tower is the landmark in HK.

My living place

On my way home today, I randomly took some photos, and would like to show you how my living place is. I has been living here for almost 16 years. You can see those tall buildings where my home is.

A corner in HK

Here is the common corners you can see in some old districts in HK. With residential and commercial area mix together, this is considered one of the busiest districts in HK. I am going to take my french course here. You can find mostly chinese restaurants, I am wondering if those french teachers already get used to chinese foods.

Today is the first day of 2009. I wish all of you a great year ahead!! I am seriously writing a to-do-list of 2009, gonna do something great in the coming year. Definitely, will do some travel- this is a very important event in a year.
