Central is in HK Island, which is a central business district. Like Fifth Ave in NY, with lots of high-end fashion boutiques and department stores. 
The building at the front is Legislative Council, it preserves the English architecture style as HK was a british colony.
In the back, China Bank Tower is the landmark in HK.

I always find it very interesting to see the influence of colonial powers on the architecture of the places which they colonized. It says so much about what went on during the times of invasion (colonization is much too kind a word for what truly happened).
In Latin America, you see the undeniable influence of Spanish style in our architecture. It is also interesting to see the combination with the style of the indigenous people, which has resulted in a fusion that persists and keeps evolving to this day.

I love these night pictures. They're harder to shoot because of the darkness. Central seems very interesting to me. And it doesn't look like traditional china at all!
re: Rita- i totally agree with the point of invasion, colonization is a kind word indeed. But, to me,it's not bad under British government for almost 100 years. At least, they really build HK up to be a well-established society. What make HK special is the culture of West- meet - East. Maybe we can talk more about that if we have chance to meet!
The spanish style in Latin America is a new topic to me, I am really interested to know more, will definitely check it out! Thanks for letting me know.
re: Daniel- yes, HK doesn't look like traditional China. HK is more like a modern city. :)
